Venue Note: |
Ella Burling Hall is in what was a
private mansion. FELTG and ISH are working hard to
insure it is fully ADA compliant by spring. But,
renovating older buildings does not always go as
planned. If you have an accessibility issue, please let
us know at least two weeks in advance of the seminar you
plan to attend so we may insure that alternative
arrangements are in place for you. |

Program Description |
|
Start with two days of legal writing, followed
by the latest in cutting-edge law from MSPB and EEOC
presented by the FELTG team. Thursday offers an in-depth
examination of whistleblowing and retaliation claims,
with the week culminating in a new, special session for
EEO professionals on drafting Final Agency Decisions. |

The Basics:
Legal writing as compared to other writing: IRAC
technique, writing from the readers' perspective,
organizational logic, citation formats, legal precedent
and research.
Tuesday, May 4 -- Ernest Hadley and William
Wiley. Legal Writing II -- Writing for the Forum: Drafting
reprimands, performance standards, proposed
terminations, abeyance agreements, last rites
agreements, and petitions for review for the MSPB; EEOC
summary judgment motions, supporting and opposing
briefs.
Wednesday, May 5 -- Peter Broida, Gary Gilbert,

Protection Board & Equal Employment Opportunity
Commission Guests.
MSPB & EEOC Case Law Updates with the Experts:
New MSPB Chairman, Susan Tsui Grundmann, former General
Counsel to the National Federation of Federal Employees,
will appear to discuss what lies ahead
in 2010!
Thursday, May 6 -- Peter Broida, Gary Gilbert and William Wiley.
Whistleblowing & Retaliation:
This session
will provide an in-depth review of the Whistleblower
Protection Act, including protected disclosures,
recipients of protected disclosures, and the
relationship between protected disclosures and required
job duties, as well as other types of prohibited
personnel practices involving reprisal. The afternoon
session will focus on retaliation under Title VII and
the other anti-discrimination statutes, including a
review of the Supreme Court’s Burlington Northern
decision and what constitutes adverse treatment for
purposes of an EEO reprisal claim. Also covered will be
reprisal for union activity.

| Cancellation |
FELTG reserves the right to
cancel a session, or make changes, upon notice.
Confirmed registrants may only cancel for Specialty
Practices Week prior to COB April 2, 2010. Substitutions
may be made at any time with notice to FELTG, but are
limited to one sub filling in the original registrants'
seminar dates. Untimely cancellations are only eligible
for 'credit slips' for a future registration, provided
notice is given before the start of training, but will
not be granted for partial attendance. Credit
slips will not be granted for 'no-shows'. |
