Eleanor Laws
Eleanor Laws is an attorney and legal writer, with a specialty
in federal sector employment law.
She was formerly the Director of the Equal Opportunity Office at The University
of Montana, where she served on the Montana University System’s Workers’
Compensation Committee. She oversaw compliance with Department of Labor
Affirmative Action regulations, and was responsible for investigating and
responding to complaints of discrimination in education and employment. Prior to
that, she was an administrative judge with the EEOC, in the Los Angeles District
Office, where she adjudicated complaints of employment discrimination in the
federal government sector. She was
a frequent presenter of the EEOC’s Technical Assistance Program Seminars (TAPS).
Her experience in federal sector employment began as an attorney with the
Law Offices of Ernest C. Hadley, where she represented clients in proceedings
before the EEOC, MSPB, and OWCP. Eleanor is author/coauthor of
several books on federal sector employment topics, including
Federal Sector Workers’ Compensation,
Third Edition (2007); Effective
Summary Judgment Motions,
(2002); The EEO Counselors’
and Investigators’ Manual, (2001),
A Guide to Federal Sector Disability
Law and Practice, First Edition (2000);
Representing Agencies and Complainants
Before the EEOC (2000).
She also writes weekly articles on employment law topics for a nationally
circulated legal reporter.
